I’ve been thinking about sharing book reviews with you. I like books that are good, clean, behind closed doors kinds of books.
The kinds of books I read are:
Books on the writing craft
Books on cooking
Books on the Bible
Biographies/Autobiographies
Christian fiction:
Historical fiction
Rom/Com
Time travel
Fantasy
Biblical fiction stories
Let me know if you’d want to see my book reviews and I’ll set this blog up for them. Do you have a good, clean book you’d like me to review then please send an email to soucieji@gmail.com. Thanks and have a great day!
This past week I have found myself missing the challenge NaNoWriMo brought every year. To my surprise a couple places online offer writing challenges that are similar to NaNoWriMo such as Auto Crit andPro Writing Aid. I have used Pro Writing Aid in the past for grammar and spelling checks. Now I haven’t used it for a while because at one point it didn’t work with Pages (I use a mac). But I decided to see if things had changed at Pro Writing Aid and visited the site. That’s when I found out about the writing challenge, Novel November, as well as Pro Writing Aid now working in Pages.
When I searched for Pro Writing Aid, other grammar checkers like Auto Crit popped up and with that its own writing challenge calledNovel in 90. I haven’t looked too in depth into Auto Crit as I had already signed up for Pro Writing Aid‘s challenge before I realized Auto Crit had its own challenge. Below are screenshots of the Pro Writing Aid and Auto Crit sites.
I tried to log in to Auto Crit to get a screenshot of the dashboard but they are having issues with the website so I can’t log in. Sorry about that. As soon as I can log in I’ll update the post.
If you use either Pro Writing Aid or Auto Crit what do you think of the challenges? Pros? Cons? Have you found other challenges online? If so, would you care to share them with me so I can keep a running post of writing challenges for those interested?
Whichever challenge you sign up for, I wish you the best of luck reaching your word count! When your writing challenge ends, why not stop by and let me know how you did. I’d love to hear from you! Or you can send an email to soucieji@gmail.com
I don’t have much to update as far as the writing goes. I’m still working on chapter outlines for A Daughter’s Promise. It may be slow but I’m making good progress when I get to it.
AND… part of the reason my writing has been going slowly is because of this little guy:
Meet the newest member of our family. His name is Sebastian or as my kids call him Sebby. He’s a 1 1/2 month old Maine Coon and he’s a trouble maker but I love him dearly. Anyway the couple of weeks leading up to his arrival we spent cleaning the house and making sure everything would be safe for him. So I haven’t had much writing time. That should change now that he’s here with us.
I’ll have an exciting post next week. Exciting for anyone who used to participate in NaNoWriMo that is. And I’ll reveal all next week.
It’s 11:22AM, and I’m looking out the window and listening to a local Christian radio station. I don’t know about you, but listening to music helps get me going in the morning and keeps me going throughout the day. Of course, a little caffeine in my vanilla caramel tea helps too.
So where am I this morning? As I sit down to write, I look over what I have written from previous days. I’m currently working on the outline for chapter one of A Daughter’s Promise. In my outline, I include more than what most authors do which are basically just main ideas. I do the same, but also add dialogue or any details that pop up as I’m writing. I don’t want to forget anything that comes into my head. I never know where that main idea or dialogue will be useful.
In my outline, I put the Novel title at the top, center of the page, then “chapter outline” and then Prologue if I have one and start with bullets for main ideas instead of numbers or letters. The numbers and letters distract me and confuse me the more I go along. Bullets are just easier but still help the ideas stand out.
Beginning Outline for Chapter One
I’m about a quarter of the way through chapter one (title pending), and I look forward to make more progress today, providing I can stay awake. *Yawn* Yeah… we will see how this works. Hopefully, after my sleep study I will have a diagnosis that can be treated and I’ll be able to stay awake for longer periods of time and get more work done. I’d like for this story to be published by the end of next year. I wish I could make concrete goals but in all reality I just can’t. I can only go by how long I can stay awake each day. It sucks, but that’s the way it is right now.
I’m grateful for any progress I make, in spite of my sleepy issues. And I know that God is guiding me every step of the way! I pray He guides you as well.
Any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments or write to me directly at soucieji@gmail.com
