15th day of NaNo

Here it is the 15th day of NaNo and I am falling a little bit behind. Last night I had planned to work more on my writing and catch up the few hundred words I was lacking, but a tick decided to attach itself to my daughters scalp and we were all in a frenzy about it last night. The tick was removed but we were all scared about what kind it was and so forth.

This morning we are taking my daughter to the doctors to have her checked out. So hopefully everything goes well.

My story for NaNo so far is 22,900 words, so I will really need to catch up today. I believe I am to be somewhere around 24, 990 words today. I’m sure I will be able to reach that so long as my daughter gives me a chance. Of course, I could give her my husbands iPad to play games on and then she will preoccupied for hours and I’ll be able to write. lol. She actually prefers the ipad to watching her TV shows. At least the games she plays helps her to use her problem solving skills and shapes.

I still feel like I have so much work left to do on this book. I am writing a nonfiction book that has some painful parts in it, but I feel I need to tell my story no matter how I feel writing it, no matter how many breakdowns I have. If I can help someone else through my writing, then I feel it was all worth it. I pretty much have once section of three done and am working on the section about my childhood and living with a father who seemed ungrateful for what he had. I finished the part about my caring for my mother through months of her illness with ovarian cancer. I kind of wrote these out of chronological order but that is okay. I can put them in the right orders later. After I write the section about my childhood, I will be writing about the decline of my own health and the trials I went through to discover what was ailing me. So far things are going okay.

Best of luck to everyone one participating in NaNo this year!

10th Day of NaNo

Today I surpassed the word count needed for today. My novel is just over 17,000 and I still have a bit to go until I get to the end of this one section. I know how I envisioned this story when I started it but I don’t think it is taking the turn that I wanted but a far different turn than expected. With that being the case, I’m not sure if this book will reach 50,000 words, which is not good. I need to figure out something, so I think I will take the time to do that. Just hope I can come up with something that works for the best.

I originally started writing this novel as a testament to my Christian journey talking about some of the trials I have been through and how God has gotten me through them. The problem is, with each trial, they could either be sections in a book, or books on their own. I’m not sure which way I want to go with them. I am think I am liking a less cluttered approach and may use each trial as a new book…hmmm but then I think that may take away from what I was trying to do with this book. (sighs) I guess I’ll just type the whole manuscript up and decide from there. Maybe that is the better way to go. See it as a whole manuscript first and then see how I like it. If I leave it as a whole manuscript then I should be able to reach if not surpass the 50,000 by the end of the month. That would be cool! Guess we’ll see what happens.

How is everyone else doing? Are you making your word count each day? Best of luck to everyone!

6th Day of National Novel Writers Month

Here we are on the 6th day of NaNoWriMo! How is everyone doing so far? I managed to kick out over 3000 words today so I have a total of just over 12,000 words. Not too shabby for having missed writing yesterday so I had to work hard to catch up today. Tomorrow I hope to have some time to write but we shall. I have a doctor’s appointment in the morning and then it’s all up to if my daughter will let me have my iPad. We bought her the LeapFrog Tablet and she loves it. Problem is the batteries are dead in it already and she’s already started asking for my iPad again. Ugh! Can’t really blame her I guess.

Well, it is getting late and I must go and prepare a few things for my appointment for tomorrow. Good night everyone. Sleep tight and sweet dreams! May the writing must warmly embrace you in the morning.

God bless!

4th Day of National Novel Writers’ Month

Mark the fourth day on your calendar as half gone. Thankfully, I was able to get my iPad from my daughter for a while this afternoon and pound out 1820 words for today. I’m so thankful to have reached that word count today. Thank you, Lord, for that! I am trying so hard to reach my word count every day, and so far things have worked out to my advantage to be able to get my word count in and still have time for family and to chill at the end of the day and feel like I have been successful.

Now that I have my word count in, I am going to take a look at the outline for my book and see what needs tweaking. Right now my outline is a mess. lol. Going to try and straighten it out a bit. Wish me luck, outlines can sure tricky.

Best of luck all you NaNoers!

3rd Day of NaNo – Update

Here is 10:51AM and I have surpassed today’s word count. I made up the words I was behind and then some. I have 10% of my novel complete so far and now have just over 5,000 words. I’m doing well so far. How is everyone else meeting their goals? Are you finding it difficult to find encouragement or inspiration each day? How do you get inspired to start your day of NaNo-ing?

I am taking a break for now. I may get back to working on my book later tonight, but we’ll see what all happens in the course of the day. Best of luck everyone!

3rd Day of NaNo

Today marks the third day of the November NaNo! So far I have just over 3,300 words. I’m a little behind in my word count but I believe I will be caught up today, so long as my two year old daughter doesn’t steal my ipad from me again! lol She has some preschool puzzles on the ipad that she absolutely loves and she is a wiz on the ipad. Makes a little scared how smart she is. So far she is learning better through technology than through books. Ah well! I do what I can on my ipad.

I use the program Novel in 30 to help me write my novel for NaNo. It’s a program that is only available on the ipad and helps you write a novel in however many days you set, and you can also set the word count. I set mine to 30 days and for 50,000 words just like NaNo. And this tells me how many words I need to write each day, how many words I have written each day, and if I am behind schedule. The con I see with this is that this program is not available for the PC would be so cool if they made it for the PC and made it so you can sync your stories no matter which device you were using.

Anyway, best wrap this up and get to my story! Good luck everyone! And God bless!

1st Day of NaNaWriMo

Well folks its here! The first day of National Novel Writer’s Month! I am so excited to be on this journey with so many others this month. My story will be nonfiction and about my journey as a Christian. I’ll be talking about some good and bad times, questions I’ve had and answers I’ve found. I really just want this book to be a testimony to everyone out there and hope it will inspire others.

With that said, let’s NaNo!

Best of luck to everyone and God bless.

Writing Updates

Back In The Game

Well, here I am listening to my music and back in the game of writing. Feeling great about life, now that I am off anti-depressants, still on an anti-anxiety though. Come to find out the anti-depressants I was on were actually making me feel depressed and making me sluggish and have not energy or interest in things. Now I a feel like a woman who has been freed. My clarity of mind has changed as well as my motivation and energy, and not to mention my quick wit and goofiness. lol.

I have come to realize that God has placed some changes within me. I used to write about vampires and all that supernatural stuff and read Stephen King and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles as well as was influenced by R.L. Stine. My tastes in what I read and write have changed quite a bit. I am finding I am more influenced by Jane Austen, Janet Evanovich, John Grisham, Jean Auel and James Patterson, all to various degrees. My new areas of interest are historical fiction, romance fiction (to a degree) and mystery fiction. Now, Since I really have no experience in these areas I have feel I have to do my research and learn about each before I feel comfortable writing in these areas. Granted, I have already started writing two historical fiction novels for Camp NaNo this year, but I have put those on hold for a while. I also have some ideas written down for a mystery novel, but again that is on hold while I educate myself.

Now the next step is trying to figure out where to go to find the information that is going to help me learn about these areas of writing. My local library didn’t have the books I was looking for so I guess I’ll just stick to using the Internet for now to see what I can find and then go from there. So this week I ‘ll be concentrating on learning the ins and outs of historical fiction writing. Hopefully what I find I’ll be able to put in a post and help other writers looking for the same information. Who knows? Guess we’ll find out.

Best of luck to everyone this week and God bless.

News on Writing

Finding My Muse

Last night I started some background work on a new story titled “A Place In This World”. I have been struggling to work on “Facade” and “Lasting Shadow” and realized the last two stories really have been pulling on past experiences I really had rather not delve into at this point until I have gone through some therapy for certain things. So I thought I would start a new story and not pull on things from my past but create something brand new and go outside of what I know. Yeah, I know as a writer you’re always told “write what you know’. But where is the fun or adventure in that? Sometimes it is exciting and adventuresome to go outside the conventional box and discover things you may have never noticed otherwise. I have never written a mystery before so this is so new to me but I am excited! I figure since I love cop shows and criminal shows like CSI and NCIS, then why not try my hand at some mystery writing. I actually think it will be a mystery/romance, but we’ll see. I know my favorite kind of movies to watch are romantic comedies but I don’t think I am a comedian, but more of a sincere person. I started watching the show “Medium” on Netflix last night and wow! I so love the show. I am inspired by the show and happy to have found another cop like show. I have been watching them since I was a kid. I’ve never been sure what the lure is unless it is just the amazement of the people putting their lives on the line to keep others safe. I know I don’t have that kind of bravery. Kudos to those who do! And thank you!

Best of luck to all you writers out there!
