NaNo Day 13 – Frustration Setting In

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Okay, today is proving to be one frustrating day with my story. My writing is going pretty well, that’s not the problem. The problem is the more I write and just let the story go, I am seeing it go in several directions and one character I need to carrying through the story to get to a pivotal point with another character is not being carried through the story. Ugh!!

I’m getting a tension headache. I am trying to figure something out before my writing session in a couple of hours. I really would hate to have to go through seven chapters and try to figure this out, but if I don’t, I’m worried my story is going to lose a pivotal point in the plot it really needs.

Another thing that is making this story difficult, is I have based my main male character off from a very notable person in music history and I’m using some names of places and events in this person’s past, but I’m scared of getting anything too close because this person, though passed away, has an enterprise with his name on it and I don’t want to step on any legalities.

I’m feeling quite overwhelmed right now and wish I had a sounding board! I so need one! Anyone else get stuck in the middle of NaNoWriMo with story issues that can halt progress? What do you do about it? Do you talk to another writing buddy? Pray? What helps you?

I know God is helping me so I’ll figure it out.

Well, off to the kitchen for dinner and then dessert. Then kiddo to bed and writing time.

Good luck everyone!

NaNo Day 12 – Made It!

Number 12

Yawn!! Finally, I can get to bed. Wrote over 2200 words today for a total word count of 23,378! Yay!

I’m getting to a part in the story I am not sure what is going to happen next. It shall be interesting to see how the story unfolds. That is one reason I don’t use an outline. I generally like surprises so long as they don’t mess up my story too much. :) My main character Wesley has just lost a dear friend and mentor and must decide on how to go about his musical career on his own. Wesley is only twelve right now and has some time to plan. But I am not sure what I am going to have happen after his friend’s funeral. hmmm….

Well, I am off to bed. Good luck to those who are still writing and awesome job for those who have written their word count today!

See you in the AM!

NaNo Day 12 – Almost There!

Number 12

Well, here it is about 5:30PM Eastern time and I have almost the days word count in. But I had to take a break a while ago to give my daughter a bath and then both dogs a bath. Now it’s time for dinner and dessert.

Writing time is coming soon! I hoping surpass my usual word count but we’ll see. Really looking for a day I can write 3000 words. Maybe that’s asking too much, lol!

It’s amazing how we start out trying to reach the goal of 1667 words and then after we reach that with no problem we push ourselves a little more and then a little more. It sure becomes addicting!

Well, off to get the evening routine going.

Back later.

NaNo Day 11- Done!

Ahhh!!! I can sit back and…yawn…fall asleep now. lol. Finished my word count. Wrote just over 1800 words today so exceed the minimum. Not by much, but every little bit helps to get ahead.

My story is moving along a little better tonight. I am hoping I can pick it back up where I have to leave off tonight. I have to get to bed. 7AM comes too early when I stay up later than usual and it just happened to be one of those nights I had to stay up later to get the word count in.

So I’m off for tonight but plan to be back tomorrow!

Good night everyone!

NaNo Day 11 – Waiting For The Time!

Today is Day 11!!! Week Two of NaNoWriMo!

Phew! I’ve made it this far along with so many other NaNoWriMos!! Let’s give ourselves a pat on the back!

Week two will prove to be tough I am sure. With the excitement wearing off of an anticipated adventure with your characters and new scenes. If you’re at a point like me, writing is getting a bit harder and I’m finding holes in my story, or parts of my story are not fitting with other parts. I am making notes and moving on in the direction I’d like my story to go. I don’t have time now to go through and play editor. That’s what we’re NOT supposed to do and I think I have learned how to do that pretty well… uh… most of the time.

It’s not quite time to NaNo yet. First I must make dinner. Having Fettuccine Alfredo with Beef Tips, then family time, then daughter to bed, and THEN time to write!!!

Off to make dinner!

Good job to those who are done writing for the day and good luck to those who are currently writing, or are going to write!

May God guide your every pen, or keystroke!

NaNo Day 10 – Mission Complete!

Number 10

Just had my NaNo session for the past two three hours. I had a bout of writer’s block for a bit, but I managed to get through that with God‘s help and with my husband being a sounding board (Thank you!).  I was able to write 2,036 words today, so that is over the minimum word count! Yay! It’s good to be ahead. I know I’ll need that advantage come Thanksgiving when I’ll be doing the cooking!

Well I am off to bed. Can barely stay awake any longer.

God bless, good luck, and good night!

NaNo Day 10 – Getting Ready!

Number 10

It’s a chilly Sunday night here! Sitting by the pellet stove all cozy in my slippers, jeans, and sweater. I had a gluten free grilled cheese and ham sandwich for diner and some ice cream. Soon it will be time to get my daughter into bed and then I’ll be able to shoot for my word count tonight.

I have had such a long and busy day with church and then visiting with my in-laws. We have been home about an hour so I feel a bit disoriented because I’m out of my normal routine, but that is good sometimes. Just means I’ll have to go back and read some of my story before I start typing tonight. Totally fine, just means it’ll take a little more time.

Well, I think I will go now and get my favorite fuzzy pjs on, get some hot tea and get ready to write!

God bless and good luck!

Nano Day 9 – Speedin’!

Number 9

So I started off the day with a really rough start. It just seemed liked anything that could happen did. You know, just anything  to get you off track with NaNo. But like I had expected, everything calmed down after my daughter was in bed and the dogs were asleep…oh and my husband was lost in his computer programming. He is so in his element and that makes me happy, to see that awesome smile on his face.

So anyway, that gave me three solid hours of free, uninterrupted writing time and I was able to write 2084 words today! Yay! So far that gives me a total of 17,209 words! Ahead of the game so far but that is good. There are at least two days I know I may not get a chance to meet the full word count, not that I won’t try, but that is why I am buckling down and trying to get ahead as much as I can , so if there is a day I can’t write as much, or maybe not at all, depending on the circumstances, I won’t be so far behind.

But alas, I must go for the night. Church in the morning.

Night all and best of luck!

NaNo Day 9 – In the Saddle!

Number 9

Sitting here ready to get writing! Sat down and wrote a little earlier, but of course, the phone rang, the buzzer went off on the oven for the ChocoFlan I was baking for the church potluck tomorrow, then I saw the dog hair on the floor and that was driving me nuts, so I vacuumed, and mopped, did some laundry and soon, in an hour it will be time for dinner. (sigh) I’m hoping for more NaNo time tonight!

Off to get a few words in before dinner time!

Good luck fellow NaNoWriMos!

Day 8 – Made It!

Number 8

Just before midnight last night, I ended on a good note. I manage to write 1900 (rough) words. I wasn’t sure with how the day was going and having to get groceries last night, but I made it!!!

*Thank you, God, for helping me!*

NaNo is proving to be a tough ride and it was quite stressful at the beginning, but I’ve found that once I’ve gotten into it more and write every day, the easier it gets. Well the flow of writing tends to get easier. Life circumstances still nudge there way in there, but dealing with it calmly helps instead of getting upset about it. That is something I’ve learned and still working on.

Just asking God to help me through this on many levels! May He guide you as well.

Good luck!
