NaNo Day 14 – Finish Line…Well For Today

Number 14

NaNo Day 14…

I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but thankfully, with God by my side I did it again. I surpassed the minimum word count again! It was tricky at one point because I thought I was going to have to remove a character that was giving me so much trouble I wanted to scream at him! lol. But I chatted with another NaNoWriMo friend via IMVU and she helped me figure it out. Really all she needed do was listen until I rambled myself into a solution! Doesn’t it usually happen that way?

So now I am keeping the character in the book, but something unexpected is going to happen to him. It will be something unexpected to me because I don’t even know what is going to happen! I will find out when he does.

Total word count for end of today: 27,655

NaNo Day 14 – Pre Writing Prep Work

Number 14

Well here we are on NaNo Day 14. Last night I printed off my proposed seven chapters. I say proposed because I have a feeling chapters and their division areas will change.  I plan on reading over those, making notes, or additions, where necessary just to fill in the timeline gaps and help me get a better mental picture of the events I need to happen. Hopefully, this will help me get an idea of where I need to be writing this evening.

But for now, it is time to take the dogs out, stop at the post office, and then drop my daughter off at school.

Good luck everyone and God bless!

NaNo Day 13 – I Made It!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Oh, man! Did I have a rough time last night. As I was writing I ran into several areas of the story I had written in previous days had some holes in the time line of events that if not fixed really would mess up the upcoming timeline for what I have yet to write. Then on top of that, some of the story I had already written for yesterdays word count was like gone so I had to figure out how to remedy that.

Thanks be to God for pulling me through last night and helping me figure everything out!!! He is so awesome to work with and I couldn’t have done it without Him!!!

Current Word Count: 25,532

NaNo Day 12 – Made It!

Number 12

Yawn!! Finally, I can get to bed. Wrote over 2200 words today for a total word count of 23,378! Yay!

I’m getting to a part in the story I am not sure what is going to happen next. It shall be interesting to see how the story unfolds. That is one reason I don’t use an outline. I generally like surprises so long as they don’t mess up my story too much. :) My main character Wesley has just lost a dear friend and mentor and must decide on how to go about his musical career on his own. Wesley is only twelve right now and has some time to plan. But I am not sure what I am going to have happen after his friend’s funeral. hmmm….

Well, I am off to bed. Good luck to those who are still writing and awesome job for those who have written their word count today!

See you in the AM!

NaNo Day 12 – Almost There!

Number 12

Well, here it is about 5:30PM Eastern time and I have almost the days word count in. But I had to take a break a while ago to give my daughter a bath and then both dogs a bath. Now it’s time for dinner and dessert.

Writing time is coming soon! I hoping surpass my usual word count but we’ll see. Really looking for a day I can write 3000 words. Maybe that’s asking too much, lol!

It’s amazing how we start out trying to reach the goal of 1667 words and then after we reach that with no problem we push ourselves a little more and then a little more. It sure becomes addicting!

Well, off to get the evening routine going.

Back later.

General Updates

Update

My blog has been quiet for a while and the reason for that…my family and I have moved. It is taking time to set up our “new” house with our belongings aside from painting a couple of rooms. One room is finished and another is almost finished. I haven’t had much time for writing or school work, but things are slowly starting to settle down and I am looking forward to getting back into the writing. One story, Facade, keeps playing in my head when I go about settling the house. The creative inside screams..”Must write! Must write!!!”

Looking forward to writing time tomorrow! Can’t wait!

Camp NaNoWriMo

2nd Day of Camp NaNo – End of Day

Well, I have finished day two of Camp NaNo with 1446 words. Not as many as yesterday, but I had one busy day today and I am surprised I was able to write as much as I did with all the cooking, baking, and cleaning that went on today.

I started writing after my husband when to bed which was about 10:30PM and by midnight had written about 200 words short of my daily word count.

Tomorrow will not be as busy. Just some laundry to do so I should be able to exceed my word count for tomorrow. At least I striving to do so.

My story has taken a few turns I did not expect, which I think is always exciting in writing. You start out with this one idea or plan for how you want things to go and then events in the story and your characters end up leading you in another direction to either the same end, or a different end completely. It is just amazing and an adventure! So much fun!

Well it is after 12AM here on the east coast of the good old U.S.A and I am trying to decide if I want to take a break or keep working and get some words in early on this 3rd day of Camp NaNo.

Hmmmm… The decisions! lol

Good night all and best of luck again tomorrow!

1st Day of Camp NaNo Round Up

Whoo hoo! What a day it has been today. I had a rough start to the day and as much as I wanted to write on my story the words either would not come or came in spurts. But the tally of words for the first day of Camp NaNo is 2,164! An awesome start! I am very excited I have exceeded my goal for the day, because I wasn’t so sure I was even going to hit the 900 word mark earlier in the day. But God sure is helping me. It is so much better doing things with Him. You never know what will happen or what ideas He will give that will take your story down a path you haver have thought of.

Love it! So thankful for the gift of writing and that there are opportunities for writers to be able to come together during Camp NaNo and the November NaNo! It is awesome to be able to share a wonderful gift and encourage each other along the way to our goals.

How did you do on your first day?

Get some rest tonight! I’m off to bed. Another writing day tomorrow.

Night all and see you in the morning!

God bless!

Camp NaNo Preparation

Here I am, sitting at my desk, in the early evening, feel happy, but exhausted from the busy day with Church and then a family gathering and adventures outside. It is that time again. Camp NaNo is going to be starting in several hours and I am preparing myself to finish a novel I started last two years ago during my first Camp NaNo called Facade. I am planning to finish the story this time around. If you visit my page: http://campnanowrimo.org/campers/jimonroe you will be able to see information about me and a link to my story. Here is a brief on what Facade (title in the works) is about:

Wesley and Keith Pierce are born in Tupelo, Mississippi on June 6, 1935. Wesley goes on to become a rock star while Keith remains a farmhand. After a few years of touring, Wesley demands a vacation and travels north to New York. He is in New York City but the rush of the city becomes more than Wesley can handle. He longs for quiet and solitude. He jumps in a car and drives into Northern New York. His car breaks down on Sulpher Springs Road. With a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, he walks three miles down the road to the nearest house. This is where Wesley meets Christine Duncan, a good old country girl. Wesley becomes so involved in Christine’s life on the family farm that he pushes his music career out of his mind. He has found something more important to him than music.

Wesley’s brother Keith becomes concerned when Wesley doesn’t come home in the time frame he said he would be home. Keith sets out to find Wesley and tracks him down. Keith is already jealous of Wesley’s fame, but becomes enraged with jealousy when he finds Wesley with a girl (Christine). Keith feels Wesley gets everything so easily when he, Keith, has to fight for everything. Keith gets his brother to return home and continue his singing career saying that he would bring Christine on the next flight back to Tupelo. Wesley agrees to return home. However, Christine is blind to what’s happening. Wesley returns home, but Keith remains at Christine’s side and pretends to be Wesley. At first Christine believes in Keith’s facade, but the longer the relationship goes on, the more Christine sees things that are not characteristic of Wesley. It’s not until Christine watches a televised concert at one of her friend’s place does she spot Wesley on TV. It is then she puts things together and uses her friend’s phone and calls Wesley’s home. She leaves a message with Wesley’s dad, but will Wesley receive her message and save Christine from Keith’s destructive grasp?

I am reworking some names that I didn’t quite like the first time around but am more comfortable with now. Just need to rework one name and then I’ll reread what I had written last time around and see what I need to do to pick up where I left off. I am shooting to write 50,000 words this coming month.

What is your word going to be for April’s Camp NaNo? Are you working on fiction, nonfiction, poetry? I’d love to hear from you!

Best of luck to everyone participating this month! I am also going to have daily updates on my progress.

Camp NaNoWriMo

5th Day of Camp NaNo

Well, I must admit. It is the 5th day of Camp NaNo and I have fallen behind with my word account. Was able to exceed my daily minimum word count yesterday, but I have not written anything as of today. Rather hard when I have company visiting, but that’s okay. I don’t get to see friends from New York very often. Hopefully, as the week wears on I’ll be able to get back to my writing.

So far where I stand with Facade is 4,020 words. That leaves me with about 45,980 words to go. Sheesh! Better get crackin’ as soon as I can.

Best of luck to all you writers out there!!
