NaNo Day 3 done!!

Number 3

Meant to write this post last night before bed but day 3 of NaNo is done! I wrote about 1700 words so just a little over the minimum word count. I made it thought! Whew! This is the first time writing fiction during a NaNo so I am happy to see I’m doing as well as I am. Yeah, so it’s all a VERY rough draft and will need some polishing out but that’s totally fine! LATER!!! Turn critic off!!! Must turn critic off!!! Critic, you’ll have your turn, but not this month! lol.

We’ll I’m off!

NaNo Day 3…Ready? Set? Go!!!

Image

Sitting here at the dining room table munching on Back to Nature’s Multi-Seed Gluten Free Rice Thin Crackers and drinking milk thistle and dandelion tea. Crackers for dinner? Yup. That’s right! My sinuses are draining and my belly is highly upset!  Seems to be the course since the weather’s been dry.

So not feeling so energetic for tonight’s writing spree but I will try to make it anyway. I’m just happy I was able to punch out a few hundred words this morning before church. Pays to get up earlier than normal I guess.

Over 4200 words recorded on the NaNo site so far. Still need to update it from this morning’s writing session. Can’t update it much more if I don’t get crackin’.  Time to join the other NaNoWriMos who have probably already written if not exceeded their word count. I’m such a slacker. lol. Okay not that bad, but will be if I don’t get going.

Best of luck everyone!

Day 2 In The Books!

Number 2

Well, it is midnight now and so I must stop writing…for a few hours at least. lol.

Wrote over 2170 words today. I am a bit ahead which surprises me. I hate to stop now since I am on a roll, but I have church in the morning. Thankfully, the clocks will set back and hour and I get one more hour of sleep!! Well, I hope to anyway. Will a four year old and two dogs, guess we’ll see about that one.

Congrats everyone who made their word count for day 2! If you haven’t quite gotten there, don’t be discouraged and don’t be hard on yourself. Pace your self  and try not to stress out. You’ll get there.

Good night all!

NaNo Day 1 Word Count – Accomplished!

Ahhh… Here we are coming to a close on Day 1 of NaNo. Okay, so there is like 27 minutes left, but I am stopping for the night. I surprised myself by surpassing the daily word count and reaching 2,060 words today. I would still be writing if I didn’t have to go to bed. Have company coming tomorrow so I must get some sleep.

Good luck to those of you who are still plugging away. Congrats to those of you who have reached or exceeded today’s word count!

Good night all and see you back tomorrow!

It’s TIIIME!! NaNo is here!

Well today is the day. November 1st. I am feeling okay right now, some pain but tolerable thanks to Aleve.  So I best get typing and see how far I can get today.

Super excited about my story!

So where are you when you are working on your story for NaNo? Are you at coffee shop with other NaNoWriMos? Are you sitting at home, working in solitude? Are you listening to music or drinking for favorite beverage to help you along?

For me, I’m sitting in my office, while my daughter is at school, drinking chamomile tea, listening to 50s Rock N Roll on Pandora. Why 50s? Because that is where the bulk of my story is set. Certainly helps set the mood.

I can’t write a long post write now, but perhaps I’ll be back later.

God bless in your writing endevors!

NaNo Is Coming!! Do You Have A Story Ready?

Oh, boy! National Novel Writing Month is coming soon!  Just six days away!!! Ahhh! I’m so excited! Like you couldn’t tell, right?

I have been working on the synopsis for my novel Facade which I had started during Camp NaNo a couple of years ago, but never got too far with it. In that time I have implemented some changes so I’ll be doing some rewriting for NaNo this year. I am very excited and can’t wait to see what comes of this novel set in the 1930’s & 1950’s. It will be interesting to learn the lingo and culture of that ear.

My husband shocked me yesterday and told me he had a story idea and that he wanted to try his hand at NaNo! He has never written stories and works as a computer programmer, so this should be interesting. I listened to his idea (involving the USS Maine) and think he has a really good story. I can’t wait to read the story when he is finished with it!!

If you’d like to be my writing buddy for NaNo here is my link: http://nanowrimo.org/participants/jimonroe

Counting down the days until NaNo!

Best of luck everyone!

Camp NaNoWriMo

5th Day of Camp NaNo

Here I am sitting at about noon on the East Coast and my story is calling to me. I am sitting at 5,670 words for the first four days of writing and I have not begun yet today. I must first calm my growling stomach and then see how much writing I can do.

I had my first word war last night and found it was fun and really helped keep me motivated. It helps when the days chores are done and everyone is in bed so I don’t get interrupted! I had to wait until 10:30PM for a word war! Ugh! That’s a long time to wait. But I made it. Was great and I can’t wait to do it again.

I best be off for now so I can get myself in gear and get things settled so I can write.

Best of luck fellow NaNo campers and God bless!

Camp NaNoWriMo

Camp NaNo Preparation

Here I am, sitting at my desk, in the early evening, feel happy, but exhausted from the busy day with Church and then a family gathering and adventures outside. It is that time again. Camp NaNo is going to be starting in several hours and I am preparing myself to finish a novel I started last two years ago during my first Camp NaNo called Facade. I am planning to finish the story this time around. If you visit my page: http://campnanowrimo.org/campers/jimonroe you will be able to see information about me and a link to my story. Here is a brief on what Facade (title in the works) is about:

Wesley and Keith Pierce are born in Tupelo, Mississippi on June 6, 1935. Wesley goes on to become a rock star while Keith remains a farmhand. After a few years of touring, Wesley demands a vacation and travels north to New York. He is in New York City but the rush of the city becomes more than Wesley can handle. He longs for quiet and solitude. He jumps in a car and drives into Northern New York. His car breaks down on Sulpher Springs Road. With a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, he walks three miles down the road to the nearest house. This is where Wesley meets Christine Duncan, a good old country girl. Wesley becomes so involved in Christine’s life on the family farm that he pushes his music career out of his mind. He has found something more important to him than music.

Wesley’s brother Keith becomes concerned when Wesley doesn’t come home in the time frame he said he would be home. Keith sets out to find Wesley and tracks him down. Keith is already jealous of Wesley’s fame, but becomes enraged with jealousy when he finds Wesley with a girl (Christine). Keith feels Wesley gets everything so easily when he, Keith, has to fight for everything. Keith gets his brother to return home and continue his singing career saying that he would bring Christine on the next flight back to Tupelo. Wesley agrees to return home. However, Christine is blind to what’s happening. Wesley returns home, but Keith remains at Christine’s side and pretends to be Wesley. At first Christine believes in Keith’s facade, but the longer the relationship goes on, the more Christine sees things that are not characteristic of Wesley. It’s not until Christine watches a televised concert at one of her friend’s place does she spot Wesley on TV. It is then she puts things together and uses her friend’s phone and calls Wesley’s home. She leaves a message with Wesley’s dad, but will Wesley receive her message and save Christine from Keith’s destructive grasp?

I am reworking some names that I didn’t quite like the first time around but am more comfortable with now. Just need to rework one name and then I’ll reread what I had written last time around and see what I need to do to pick up where I left off. I am shooting to write 50,000 words this coming month.

What is your word going to be for April’s Camp NaNo? Are you working on fiction, nonfiction, poetry? I’d love to hear from you!

Best of luck to everyone participating this month! I am also going to have daily updates on my progress.

New NaNo Story

Well, I have started work on a new story for NaNo. It will be fantasy. I am runny far behind on being ready for NaNo to start, but that’s okay. I can still work on some development as I go.

Still need to come up with a title and some character names, but the final decisions will come later. Right now I may just throw some names in there as fillers.

I have the basic story idea about done. Then it will be developing the characters I am seeing carry out various actions to make this story work. Man, I am having dialogue coming to me and my story crying to be written. Oh, how am I going to be able to wait until Nov 1st to begin writing? It’s so hard!!!!

How are you fellow NaNoWriMos coming along with your story? Are you ready for the month long event? Do you plan on staying home and writing or getting out with other writers in your area? I haven’t fully decided what I am going to do. Will have to see if there are any meetings close to me.

Well, I know this isn’t much of an update this time. Hopefully, I’ll have more to say later. Best of luck and happy writing!
